And in Conclusion…

Our first ever Flying Pig Weekend has come to a close and what a weekend it was! Thanks to the generous prayers of so many who pledged their support for this weekend, nearly 90 runners were up and active in all the races on May 5th and 6th in Downtown Cincinnati and together we raised awareness about vocations and nearly $7000 in support of our seminarians! God has truly blessed our efforts!

It was a beautiful weekend filled with great weather for running and everyone on the team seemed to really enjoy the attention we received with our bright gold tshirts! In fact, as our team members finished the 5K race, the announcer began informing the crowd that “another Run for the Call shirt” was coming in ! We got their attention and the message came through loud and clear. We heard several people throughout the weekend telling us how great it was to hear our message for the first time. Others were excited to see someone supporting our seminarians and still others wanted to know what we were going to do next. What a blessing it was to be there!

Saturday’s Mass and blessing for runners at St. Cecilia was packed to near overflowing and over 100 runners came up to receive St. Sebastian medals at the end of Mass. Following the Mass, the Spaghetti dinner was overflowing, too. We had to set up tables outside to seat everyone and the food was enjoyed by all!

As the weekend came to a close and our team members went home to recover, each of them pledged to support the team again next year and to help grow this team to nearly double its size! In speaking with a handful of people over the past few days, our success has already inspired some to pick up their running shoes again and join the team. God has blessed us with His grace and we are excited to see where it takes us. For now, we are celebrating a very successful Flying Pig Weekend and have circled May 4-5, 2013 on our calendars so we can do it all again as the Pig celebrates it’s 15th Anniversary!
